LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
• SMALL SCALE MANUFACTURING in Albany, NY AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.  The Laboratory Technician is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by being part of a multi-disciplinary team, committed to the safe manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for use in human clinical trials.

• Assemble, maintain, troubleshoot and clean a wide variety of apparatus and equipment.
• Routinely order equipment parts and organize equipment repair with outside vendors.
• Perform general housekeeping to maintain lab and equipment cleanliness following cGMP/SOPs.
• Follow cGMP documentation procedures for all work.
• Discuss routinely with the supervisor and colleagues the status of assigned projects and potential problems. 
• Assist with sampling of APIs for customer shipments.
• Assist research scientists in carrying out chemical reactions and purification operations for the production of APIs.
• Keep accurate, legible, and complete records of all experiments and observations.
• Follow responsible actions regarding chemical waste disposal. Maintain compliance with all regulations at the federal, state, and local levels. Qualifications
• External Qualifications and background to be successful in this role: 

Required:
• Ability to conduct basic mathematical operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions.
• Willingness to work in a chemical laboratory environment. Preferred:
• High School Diploma, Technical or Associates degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Strong mechanical ability as it applies to setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment.  Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Incumbent must be able to obtain/qualify for and maintain the clearance to wear a respirator at a “class B” level or above following OSHA mandated guidelines.
