Pilot Plant Technician in Rensselaer, NY -Second Shift or Third Shift
AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Summary: The Pilot Plant Technician supports new product and existing product development within the Research & Development department by working to manufacture products within a safe GMP environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operate equipment and machinery to support production processes as described in production batch records.
• Complete and maintain associated batch documentation necessary for the manufacture of active pharmaceutical intermediates or other products.
• Perform all duties safely in accordance with AMRI Rensselaer Safety Program, OSHA requirements, FDA regulations, and all applicable federal, state and local regulations.
• Perform all duties within the guidelines outlined by Good Manufacturing Practices for active pharmaceutical intermediates.
• Perform all duties in an environmentally compliant manner in accordance with the AMRI Rensselaer Environmental Program.
• Be proactive in assuming responsibilities that enable the building to function more effectively such as maintaining excellent housekeeping, initiating maintenance requests to repair faulty equipment, assisting in casual maintenance, and effectively preparing for new production in the building.
• Assisting development chemists as necessary in preparing for product startups both in the laboratory and in the building.
• Perform other duties as directed to effectively assist the Developmental Manufacturing Manager and/or the Research and Development Department in bringing and developing new products to the Company and supporting existing manufacturing when necessary.
• Required to operate the various reactors, filters and dryers located within the building.  Additionally, the technician will be required to operate all support systems within the building such as the distilled water system, deionized water system, breathing air system, scrubbers, vacuum systems, etc. as needed to perform assignments.
• Communicate with development chemists, QC/QA personnel, material handling personnel, maintenance and engineering personnel, information systems personnel and specific members of plant management (when requested).
• Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or service.
• Participate in self-development activities and training of others.
• Complete the Pilot Plant Technician Core Competency in the Learning Management System.
• Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
• Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business. Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred Associates Degree in a technical discipline such as science or engineering is a plus.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software, Presentation software and Word Processing software.
