 SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST, MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY in Albany, NY

The Sr. Research Scientist is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by designing and executiing target molecules based on the evolving Structure Activity Relationship (SAR) and the Structure Property Relationships (SPR) within research programs.

In this role, you will:

• Use research knowledge to effectively plan and manage day-to-day work cycle operations of a project; stays current with changes in applicable field. Solve problems and develop new methodology
• Synthesize target compounds utilizing a blend of both classical and modern technology effectively.
• Modify reaction conditions in accord with visual observations to allow rapid, successful production of target compounds.
• Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.  Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
• Use a broad spectrum of practical laboratory skills as needed; including advanced methods of purification of solvents and reagents, running reactions under anhydrous and oxygen free conditions, and using advanced methods for isolation/purification of sensitive materials.
• Plans work to meet personal project objectives and deadlines; assesses needs and makes changes in process, work flow and/or assignments. Coordinates multiple, concurrent assignments on a multi-faceted research project
• Assists in proposal development.
• Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or services.
• Create and validate hypotheses through data collection and analysis with goals of description, explanation prediction and decision making.
• This position may have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  Required

• Ph.D. Degree in Organic Chemistry or Master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Chemical Hygiene Training
