Senior Research Scientist, E&L in Albany, NY AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
The Senior Research Scientist is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by developing, validating and implementing analytical procedures utilizing various types of mass spectrometers.  The routine functions of the laboratory are testing of raw materials, in-process, end product, stability, and extractable/leachable samples for trace level impurities.

• Perform complex laboratory analysis of pharmaceutical products and proficiently use various LC-MS(MS) instrumentation, calculate and analyze data and record data in adherence with AMRI SOP's and industry practices.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of extractable and leachable samples to identify and quantify trace organic compounds by High Resolution Accurate Mass LC-MS(MS).
• Act as an individual contributor or analytical leader on multiple projects, including interacting with clients, reviewing and evaluating data, and writing analytical reports and protocols.
• Develop and validate LC-MS based analytical methods for trace organic compounds, for example extractables/leachables or genotoxic impurities, to support drug substance and drug product release.
• Collaborate with peer scientists on impurity identification activities

Qualifications

Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:
• Ph.D. in Organic or Analytical Chemistry, or other applicable natural science field OR; Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience OR; Bachelor’s and 7 years of relevant experienced
• Chemical Hygiene training Preferred
• High Resolution Accurate Mass with structure elucidation experience
• 2 to 5 years’ experience in method development of LC-MS(MS) assays for small molecule or trace organic analysis in pharmaceutical products or environmental samples, preferably
in a regulated environment (e.g., GMP, GLP and GCP.)
• Familiarity with Thermo Orbitrap or triple quad systems (Xcalibur and LCquan software) is a strong plus.
• Relevant expertise in data mining using TraceFinder and Compound Discover software for database development to enhance analytical screening methods for trace compound detection and identification is a strong plus.
• Strong Project Management skills are desirable.
