RESEARCH SCIENTIST I
• PROTEIN EXPRESSION, CRYSTALLOGRAPHY & ANALYSIS in Buffalo, NY
Albany Molecular Research Inc. provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
The Research Scientist I is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by: a ssisting in the development, production and characterization of recombinant proteins and protein conjugates. They are expected to work under supervisory direction. The Research Scientist I is expected to develop competency in many aspects of practical molecular biology, microbiology, protein purification and protein chemistry within the first 12 months of their employment and assist the senior members of the Protein Expression & Crystallization laboratory group.  A major component of the scientist’s rating will be based on productivity, teamwork and cooperation.

In this role, you will:

• Assist in the development of recombinant protein expression, purification and analysis methods through applications of molecular biology, cell biology, protein chromatography and protein chemistry.
• Assist in the development of protein crystallization methods and X-ray diffraction structures.
• Collaborate with internal drug discovery teams/areas, such as assay development, cell biology, mass spec and microbiology;
• Maintain comprehensive, up to date records of experimental methods, materials, calculations, results, observations and outcomes (decisions) in compliance with AMRI laboratory notebook policy. Record all appropriate data electronically in AMRI databases.

Qualifications

Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:

• Bachelors or Masters Degree with a major in Biology or Biochemistry, or equivalent industrial experience.
• Laboratory experience conducting molecular biology, protein purification and electrophoresis.
• Computer training in the use of standard office software applications and databases.
• Other pertinent training/courses.
