Shift Supervisor
• Pilot Plant in Rensselaer, NY
Position will be 2nd or 3rd shift.
Albany Molecular Research Inc. provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
The Shift Supervisor
• Pilot Plant is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by being responsible for the manufacturing of Bulk Chemicals/Pharmaceuticals and for maintaining the manufacturing equipment and facilities according to prescribed cGMP guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOP).  The incumbent supervises the hourly production work force insuring strict adherence to manufacturing processes and work practices.

• Supervises all appropriate shift personnel to meet business requirements.
• Responsible for the manufacture of all Bulk Chemical/Pharmaceuticals described in the Production Schedule.
• Develops work schedules for production technicians in order to meet production requirements.
• Assists the Building Supervisor in developing effective overtime plans to meet business needs.
• Insures that adequate supplies of raw materials, intermediates and factory supplies are available within the manufacturing area to meet production requirements. Responsible for the orderly storage and flow of materials within the manufacturing area.
• Provides regular performance feedback to assigned technicians and conducts annual performance reviews. Takes corrective action when necessary.
• Responsible for insuring that the manufacturing area and production equipment is adequately maintained.
• Ensures all manufacturing operations are conducted in accordance with cGMPs, SOPs, and approved manufacturing monographs.
• Responsible for insuring that all materials used in the manufacturing operation have been approved for use by authorized personnel and have been so documented.
• Assists in troubleshooting manufacturing problems and contributes to equipment operations when necessary.
• Ensures all areas and equipment are cleaned and documented in accordance with existing SOP and plant policies.
• Ensures all documentation relating to the manufacturing operation (batch records, cleaning records, calibration records, equipment logs, etc.) are complete and up to date.
• Ensures all materials being located in and leaving manufacturing areas (raw materials, intermediates, finished products) are maintained, packaged, labeled in accordance with plant policies and that the materials are correctly weighed.
• Ensures that work practices within all manufacturing areas are completed in accordance with the plant’s Safety and Health policies. Maintains adequate supplies of safety equipment.
• Responsible for the compliance with all Governmental Regulations including safety, environmental and FDA Regulations.
• Reports and investigates unsafe work practices/accidents.
• Initiates and participates in on-the-job training for technicians.
• Administers provisions of the current union/company contract.
• Provides daily leadership, enabling direct reports to communicate and effectively complete their tasks.
• Effectively communicates at all levels within the Company to ensure continuous operations, relative to shift changeovers, pre-shift meeting and effective written shift status reports.
• Recommends and implements methods to increase the quality of products and/or services.
• Participates in self-development activities and the training of others.
• Completes the Production Technician Core Competency in the Learning Management System.
• Exhibits safety awareness and safe work practices.  Protects employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
• Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.


Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:
• 5-10 years Manufacturing experience required
• Knowledge of S.O.P.’s
• Good leadership and communication skills Preferred

• 5-10 years chemical or BioTech experience preferred
• Engineering degree a plus but not required
