AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.  This position, Sr. Principal Process Equipment Engineer is responsible for providing leadership to AMRI’s engineering and technical services teams in the API and Drug Product network. The breadth of support includes technical oversight of AMRI’s process equipment engineering teams located at our manufacturing facilities or assigned to major capital projects. The incumbent will be responsible to lead the specification, design, purchase and installation of new technologies to increase capacity for existing products and for launch of new products. This position interfaces AMRI’s manufacturing plants and other departments within AMRI’s network. This position reports to the Vice President, Engineering & Technical Services.

• Provide above site leadership and technical oversight to the API and Drug Product engineering teams in close concert with the site leadership teams using a matrix approach 
• Deliver manufacturing technology for multiple major capital projects by providing functional oversight of the combined technical resources assigned to the process equipment effort
• Develop the technical talent of AMRI’s site based engineering and technical operations teams in order to deliver robust solutions and on time delivery of AMRI’s CDMO API and DP programs
• Provide functional leadership for AMRI’s CDMO API and DP programs ensuring timely execution in accordance with client based project expectations and deliverables
• Strengthen AMRI’s technical transfer processes in conjunction with the Global Program Management office
• Provide functional leadership to deliver technical solutions for AMRI’s site based cost improvement programs via improvements in product and process productivity and reliability
• Provide solutions via AMRI’s technical network to resolve issues challenging AMRI’s ability to delivery finished goods at the appropriate levels of quality and efficiency
• Provide functional leadership for AMRI’s internal site to site technical transfer initiatives and capacity and compliance improvement initiatives 

Qualifications


• BS in Packaging/Mechanical/Chemical or related Engineering Science
• Minimum 15 years' experience in Pharmaceutical Process Equipment Engineering, Technical Services, or equivalent Engineering Management 
• High level of equipment expertise in the following areas: Formulation Processes Equipment including Emulsion, Extrusion, Homogenization and High Shear mixing, XP and APEX Design, Solvent Handling and Recovery, Chemical Synthesis, Fermentation and Isolation Equipment, Downstream Processes Equipment including UF/DF and Chromatography, Sterile Filling Processes, Sterilization and Lyophilization Processes, CIP Processes, Critical Utility Systems (WFI, CS, Cleanroom Facilities and HVAC), Process Equipment Start-up, Commissioning and Qualification
• Demonstrated aptitude and attitude to become immersed in the resolution of technical challenges and technological advancements
• Proven project management, analytical, problem solving skills
• Strong knowledge of global pharmaceutical regulations
• Excellent relationship management, communication and presentation skills 
• Ability to effectively manage and influence cross functional teams
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills 
• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and achieve significant, complex goals and objectives
• Demonstrated leadership with proven success in challenging status quo
