RESEARCH SCIENTIST I, CHEMICALDEVELOPMENT in Rensselaer, NY

AMRI provides global contract research andmanufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Research Scientist I is an integralpart of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by performing synthesis, purification, and identificationof chemical intermediates and target compounds.

Inthis role, you will:    


Demonstrate proficiency in synthesizing known compoundsefficiently using literature or in-house notebook procedures.

Under supervisory direction, synthesize new compounds by makingappropriate modifications of known methods. 

Modify reaction conditions in order to improve yields.

Purify synthesized chemicals to an appropriate degree.  The scientist will be able to use the fullrange of chromatographic, crystallization, and distillation techniques.

Analyze and identify compounds using a good range of modernseparation and spectroscopic techniques. This will include interpretation of TLC, HPLC, polarimetry, IR, and NMRspectra of moderate complexity.

      Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limitedscope.                                                                                                                               




Qualifications

Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:

Bachelors or Master’s Degree with major in chemistry orequivalent industrial experience.

Chemical Hygiene training.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific andtechnical journals, financial reports and legal documents.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probabilityand statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry andtrigonometry.
