Research Investigator
Overview:
Albany Molecular Research Inc. (AMRI) provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. SSCI, now part of AMRI, performs contract research and cGMP analytical services, with specializations in the field of solid-state chemistry and crystallization.
We are currently seeking a Senior Scientist/Research Investigator with a focus on chromatography and dissolution for our Chromatography & Drug Performance group in West Lafayette, IN.  A successful candidate will have demonstrated scientific expertise in chromatography, dissolution, and other associated techniques, and will be able to independently lead related scientific projects, conducting and coordinating work within SSCI and across functional groups of AMRI, and assume a customer facing role.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Directs client and internal research projects including chromatographic analysis and in vitro comparative analysis of pharmaceutical compounds and products (dissolution and related techniques), as well as preclinical formulation development, characterization, and general testing.
  • Directs and interprets data to solve complex scientific problems
  • Utilizes chromatography, UV-Vis, dissolution, and other associated analytical techniques.
  • Develops, validates, and writes analytical methods and operating procedures according to specific sample or testing requirements.
  • Conducts scheduled preventive maintenance and qualification of equipment (i.e. HPLC, Dissolution, etc.).
  • Maintains appropriate documentation (records and lab notebooks) as required by SOPs.
  • Provides project oversight, client interactions, and scientific input.
  • Complies with all cGMP and safety requirements, laboratory SOPs and company policies and procedures.
  • Participates in troubleshooting of analytical test methods and laboratory instruments.
  • Complies with good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Performs data analysis and interpretation.
  • Prepares well-written scientific reports.
  • Provides supervision to laboratory staff.




Job Requirements

Laboratory experience:

HPLC, UPLC, UV-VIS, IC, Dissolution
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • B.S., Master’s or Ph.D. with corresponding years of experience in chromatography, dissolution, and analytical development.
  • Minimum of 7 years (BS), 5 years (MS), or 3 years (Ph.D.) of related laboratory work experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Critical thinking, problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience with design and troubleshooting experiments and interpretation of data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as is a high level of independence and the ability to handle multiple projects.
