Research Associate - Analytical in Albany, NY

AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Research Associate - Analytical is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by being an expert in analytical chemistry.  The scientist’s principal responsibility is to effectively develop and execute analytical methods for the analysis of pharmaceutical compounds, including  API,  intermediates and starting materials.

In this role, you will:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

  • Understand the tests necessary to characterize an API and continually expand technical knowledge.

  • Develop efficient, selective analytical procedures for assigned compounds.  Analyze samples with developed method in an efficient manner.

  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in multiple analytical techniques.

  • Conduct laboratory operations in a safe manner.  Maintain familiarity with the Chemical Hygiene Plan.  Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.

Job Requirements

Required:
 
  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, or other applicable natural science field 
  • Strong scientific communication skills, able to read, analyze and discuss scientific literature, procedures and results
  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry fundamental principles and intellectual curiosity to be continually learning
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute and collaborate in a team environment
Preferred:
 
  • Experience with execution and/or method development using the following analytical techniques: LC, GC, IC, XRPD, NMR, IR, MS, KF, ICP, titration
  • Experience working in a regulated analytical environment (cGMP, GLP, ISO), pharmaceutical analysis preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to critically assess analytical procedures and drive change for improvement.
