Quality Control Supervisor in Rensselaer, NY

The QC Supervisor is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by managing the testing of raw materials, intermediates, finished goods and bulk pharmaceuticals. The QC Supervisor is expected to provide significant contributions to the problems assigned, and to demonstrate an ability to solve problems.  The scientist is self-motivated and continually demonstrates initiative in handling responsibilities, and strives to do the job better.

In this role, you will:

  • Work in a GxP environment in QC Lab
  • Demonstrate understanding of scientific and chemical terms and definitions used in the lab and in the methods. 
  • Communicate analytical testing results clearly and accurately.
  • Manage general lab responsibilities including but not limited to housekeeping, ordering lab supplies and general organization of the lab.
  • Occasionally perform data review.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of document control and laboratory management systems.
  • Demonstrate experience in management of quality investigations
  • Demonstrate good understanding of test method validation
  • Track the progress of continuous improvement initiatives in the team to improve and communicate performance to Quality leadership team
  • Prioritize and assign work based on business needs
  • Develop and train team members to perform requisite duties
  • Assess resource allocation
  • Review protocols and technical reports including but not limited to stability, method transfer etc.
  • Be accountable for supporting the site in delivering product and customer commitments
  • Be accountable for communicating changes in progress of site commitment and any issues impacting those commitments
  • Be responsible for establishing goals and objectives for individual team members, measuring performance and communicating as appropriate to employee and/or management
  • Participate in regulatory and customer audits
  • Be responsible to maintain laboratory instruments, preventive maintenance and calibration program
  • Coordinate general lab responsibilities

Education & Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with major in Biology, Chemistry, Natural Science or Pharmacy or equivalent required with minimum of 10 years of previous professional experience and minimum 2 years of team leadership experience

  • Good knowledge of analytical chemistry including wet chemistry and instrumental methods of analysis.

  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills

  • Analytical data review
  • Experience with ERP, LIMS and document control systems
  • Experience in test method validation
  • Demonstrated experience in technical writing
  • Statistical analysis experience preferred
