JOB TITLE: PILOT PLANT SHIFT SUPERVISOR

Status: Exempt

Department: Manufacturing

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for shift supervision of the manufacturing of Pharmaceutical Intermediates and API’s in Buildings 2 and 9 according to prescribed Safety practices, cGMPs and SOPs. Supervises Buildings 2, 8 and 9 Pilot Plant Technicians, adhering to manufacturing processes, work practices and policies.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Responsible for supervising all appropriate shift personnel to meet business requirements.

2. Assisting the Building Manager in developing effective overtime plans to meet business needs.

3. Supervises Pilot Plant Technicians in the performance of their assigned job responsibilities.

4. Providing regular performance feedback to assigned technicians and conducts annual performance reviews.

5. Ensures all manufacturing operations are conducted in accordance with cGMPS, SOPs, and approved manufacturing monographs.

6. Assists in troubleshooting manufacturing problems and contributes to equipment operations when necessary.

7. Ensures all areas and equipment are cleaned and documented in accordance with existing SOP and plant policies.

8. Ensures all documentations relating to the manufacturing operation (batch records, cleaning records, calibration records, equipment logs, etc.) are complete and up to date.

9. Ensures all materials being located in and leaving manufacturing areas (raw materials, intermediates, finished products) are maintained, packaged, labeled in accordance with plant policies. Also, that the materials are correctly weighed.

10. Ensures that work practices within all manufacturing areas are completed in accordance with the plant’s Safety and Health policies.

11. Reports and investigates unsafe work practices/accidents.

12. Initiating and participating in on-the-job training for technicians.

13. Provides daily leadership, enabling technicians and chemist to communicate and effectively complete their tasks.

14. Effective communications at all levels within the Company to ensure continuous pilot operation, relative to shift changeovers, pre-shift meeting and effective written shift status reports.

15. Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or services.

16. Participate in self-development activities and the training of others.

17. Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices. Protect employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

18. Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

 Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering or related field and 3 years relevant manufacturing experience.

 Knowledge GMP requirements.

Desired

 Pharmaceutical Operations experience.
