Materials Control Specialist in West Lafayette, IN

AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Materials Control Specialist is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by participating in all functions related to sample/materials management.  This involves tracking projects from initiation to closing, monitoring shipping and receiving processes, meeting with project leaders as needed, and providing project reports.

In this role you will:     

  • Create Projects: create new projects in LIMS, assign project leader and back-up project leader, approve project, submit all necessary paperwork.  Notify the appropriate personnel as projects are created.  

  • Log in Samples, Controlled Substances, Reagents and Solvents: receive and log in all materials upon arrival, store in appropriate locations.  Ensure QA review is performed for each sample.

  • Return/Destroy Samples: maintain tracker to determine when to destroy samples; work with project leaders to determine which samples should be returned to client; generate appropriate correspondence, update LIMS retain location daily, and prepare necessary shipping paperwork.

  • Send and receive samples from Contract Labs: prepare all submission paperwork, provide PO.

  • Inventory Control: purchase project- related supplies.

  • Scan Project and Material - Related Documents: secure and archive all project paperwork and invoices.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:

Required:

  • Associate’s degree and 0 to 5 years experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask along with strong organizational skills and the ability to be flexible  in organizing work and priorities. 
  • Excellent communication skills required.

Preferred:

  • Understanding of cGMP and related internal data generation and storage systems (LIMS).
