Laboratory Assistant in Albany, NY

The Laboratory Assistant role is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by ensuring that our labs run smoothly and that our scientific staff have everything they require for the development of pharmaceuticals.

In this role, you will:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

  • Conduct laboratory operations in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Maintain the laboratory equipment in a clean, organized and orderly manner:
    • Wash, dry, and put away chemistry glassware
    • Wipe down lab benches;
    • Sweep and mop lab floors;
    • Refill solvent bottles and prepare solutions
  • Follow responsible actions regarding chemical waste disposal.  Maintain compliance with all regulations at the federal, state, and local levels
  • Assist scientists with operations involving some technical manipulations, if appropriate

Job Requirements

Required:
  •  High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. 

  • Ability to qualify for and maintain clearance to wear a respirator at a “class B” level or above following OSHA mandated guidelines. 

  • Chemical Hygiene training

Preferred:

  •  Familiarity working in a laboratory setting
  • Math Skills: ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Basic mechanical skills as they apply to working in a laboratory setting (e.g. assembling new equipment, maintenance of vacuum pumps
