Inspection and Packaging Technician

Albany Molecular Research Inc. provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. 
Summary Performs Inspection and Packaging functions including cleaning, inspection, pulling and processing of rejects, labeling, shrink-wrapping, completing and reconciling of paperwork. Trains in all Inspection and Packaging functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 
  • Completes logs and paperwork prior to bringing product on line ensuring all has been reconciled to packaging batch records
  • Performs labeling, and shrink-wrap processes ensuring proper labeling and placement of product in cartons with inserts, etc.  Reconciles and verifies labels.
  • Assists with daily cleaning of department.
  • Enter metric data into computer as needed to track process. 
  • Assists as part of spill team upon completion of specialized training and certification.
  • Understands and implements safety procedures and cGMPs.
  • Obtains line clearance from Quality Assurance, brings product on line.  Cleans and inspects vials for glass defects, particulates, dirty vials, product on stoppers, seals, etc.
  • Performs audit of vials that have been inspected to ensure process has been performed properly.
  • Sorts rejects during inspection process categorizing, verifying and completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Performs media inspections checking for turbid vials.
  • Able to lift up to 50lb when necessary
  • Pull samples of rejects and sends to appropriate lab for testing
  • Labeling of Chemicals/Reagents
  • Responsible for staying current with all applicable job-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Able to stand or sit for extended periods

Supervisory Responsibilities:                      

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:                                             
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Skills and Abilities Meet or exceed visual acuity, depth perception and color requirements. Must receive passing tests results on vision, color blindness and depth perception eye exam. Must have clear vision: up close (20 inches or less), at distance (20 feet or more), color (ability to identify and distinguish colors), depth perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), and peripheral (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or left to right while eyes are fixed on a given point).
