Job Description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Environmental Technician prepares, tests, and reports results for a variety of environmental samples and performs a number of inspection to assist in maintaining site wide compliance to local, state, and federal regulations.  This position works closely with the Environmental Manager/Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor to identify effective treatment methods and respond to any incidents impacting the environmental status of the site.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

1.       Communicate with the Environmental Manager daily on the status of samples, data, and assigned tasks.

2.       Monitor Groundwater Treatment System and Soil Vapor Extraction Unit.  

3.       Perform Chemical Bulk Storage and Petroleum Bulk Storage Tank inspections and coordinate necessary repairs.

4.       Maintains a Visible Emissions Evaluator certificate.

5.       Utilize gas chromatography to analyze wastewater samples & general wastewater lab tasks.

6.       Perform Cooling Tower Sampling according to Monitoring & Control plans.

7.       Data entry for multiple site systems.

8.       Prepare reports promptly and accurately for regulatory agencies.

9.       Provides Contractor Safety training and participates in site safety initiatives.

10.   Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• Associates Degree in Natural Science


Proficiency with Microsoft Office.  Ability to work individually and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills, science background with strong understanding of chemistry, ability to lift 30lbs, occasional work from heights required, respirator fit test & ERT Team participation required..
