In this role, you will:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 



                             

•       Lead an active laboratory program, developing new routes of synthesis, modifications of reactants and/or equipment, and synthesis of target molecules. 

•       Demonstrate leadership and mentorship in scientific issues and act as an integral expert as a resource of the Company.

•       Have a routine flow of quality ideas for applicable synthetic or medicinal chemistry in any project.  Be an expert in the spectroscopic or chemical identification and separation of organic compounds. 

•       Be responsible for optimizing the chemical pathway for preparing active pharmaceutical ingredients taking into consideration the availability and costs of raw materials, equipment requirements, patent limitations, reproducibility of quality and yields, industrial hygiene, and government regulatory issues.

•       Be responsible for initiating, staffing, contributing to, and leading research activities within the Company.  This may involve establishing collaborative efforts with outside organizations to facilitate and insure success of the projects.

Job Requirements



Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:

Required

 

  • Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry
  • At least seven years of research experience in synthetic/organic chemistry, chemical development and pilot plant production with a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company or contract research company.
  • A demonstrated track record of significant postgraduate accomplishments in synthetic/organic chemistry
  • A record of effective leadership with outstanding results by creating a positive work environment with emphasis on teamwork and collaboration

•       Must be able to solve the more complex chemical, material processing and environmental problems which arise.  Must be fluent in modern and classical organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry.

•       Strong computer literacy using word processing, molecular modeling, on-line internet searches, database usage, and similar software usage.

•       Must have highly developed written and oral communications skills with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents; the ability to effectively respond to sensitive inquiries and complaints; the ability to write articles and deliver presentations on complex subjects to top level management, customers and public groups.

•        Must have top level mathematical skills with the ability to work with concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
