Associate Director, Supply Chain

Albany Molecular Research Inc. provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. 

Summary:
The Engineering Department provides the capacity to manufacture pharmaceuticals in an efficient, timely, and safe manner, thereby contributing to the profitability of the business unit by maintaining or modifying/replacing all utility, facility, and production equipment and systems. The Associate Director of Lyophilization Services leads the operation and technical services of several Lyophilizers at the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In Charge of maintenance procedure and operational procedure for the lyophilizer equipment.
  • Directly and through assignees performs troubleshooting and provide corrective actions directive
  • Train associates to ensure their knowledge and success on lyophilizer equipment
  • Directly and through staff participate in engineering designs, specifications selections, change of parts, and implement the necessary change through engineering change control procedure
  • Directly and through management participate in lyophilization process and cycle designs, and implement the process necessary change through engineering change control procedure
  • Directly and through validation department participate in change control requalification and validation of change
  • Understanding / knowledge of PLC control, preferably Allen Bradley RSlogix
  • Directly and/or through PLC engineering department participate in change needed in process and mechanical control
  • Directly and through management participate in customer meeting related to lyophilization subject matter expert
  • Directly and through QA department participate in deviation writing, review and corrective action related to lyophilizer mechanical or process deviation
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:  
Bachelor Science degree in industrial refrigeration and general mechanical, with a minimum experience of 7 years with lyophilizer. Must have a strong analytical, math, and problem solving skills.
Language Skills:                                             
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write clearly.  Ability to speak effectively.
 
Mathematical Skills:                                                   
Ability to apply math and physic science concepts.
Reasoning Ability:                                          
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Computer Skills:                                             
Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Access, as this individual will perform work within these systems on a routine basis.
 
Other Skills and Abilities:                                           
  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to organize time in order to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret and implement technical writing and instructions.
  • Effective inter-personal relation skills, while maintaining the adaptability to achieve company goals
  • Verbally expresses ideas and facts in a clear, logical, concise and in accepted grammatical style.
  • Must have EPA type universal certification.

Must pass background check
Must pass drug screen                                                  
 
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
 
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Shift:  12 Hour Night Weekend
