AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

 

The Director of Production leads the AMRI aseptic (sterile fill and finish) manufacturing service businesses.  The Director uses their leadership and industry experience to instill the highest caliber of operational excellence for the unit. The Director leads by example and works to develop continuous improvement programs and maintain high quality standards to achieve operational efficiency and the highest customer satisfaction.  The Director promotes and develops new lines of business for this unit, as well as higher plant utilization and appropriate and effective capital build out.

Responsibilities

 

•         Develop and execute strategic, operational, manufacturing, and quality process plans that ensure the reliable attainment of business and ultimate production and delivery of the highest quality products at the lowest possible net cost

•         Lead the planning, budgeting, profitability assurance, and cost monitoring of the Sterile Fill/Engineering business. The Director has full P & L responsibility for this sector of AMRI’s business

•         Ensure a culture of continuous improvement and implement lean manufacturing and engineering techniques and cost assessment programs

•         Ensure compliance with applicable domestic and international regulatory and compliance programs and statutes. Instill culture of uncompromising and consistent setting and upholding of the highest standards

•         Oversee, through department leaders, production and materials planning, Technical Operations, tech transfer and operations implementation of effective customer projects

•         Responsible for establishing a sales and business development plan and executing such with the business development team that assures that customers are aware of AMRI’s capabilities and ability to meet their needs at a cost effective pricing structure that drives increased customer billings and satisfaction, while meeting or exceeding the AMRI business plan for revenue and profitability for the sterile fill business

•         Ownership of site manufacturing equipment purchase and maintenance, associated capital expenditure planning and execution

•         Ensures on-going process and manufacturing capability improvement

•         Develop budgets and targets. Responsible for the manufacturing and technical operations

•         Responsible for the development of staff, including performance management for direct reports

•         Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or services.

•         Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices. Lead and involved, pro- active culture of safety and environmental compliance


Job Requirements

Requirements

•         Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or related field; Advanced degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience

•         10 years’ experience managing in a pharmaceutical/chemical GMP manufacturing environment. Sterile/aseptic fill managerial experience highly desirable

•         Excellent communication skills

•         Comfortable working in a team environment with site and company departmental leaders

•         Strong leader and manager, through an understanding of a pharmaceutical, chemical or CMO manufacturing site

Work Environment


While performing the duties of this job, the employee has the potential of being exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals (wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment will be required in these situations). The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and may be expected to work with electronic equipment (always being aware of one’s environment and taking proper precautions is required). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee may be responsible for moving and/or generating hazardous waste for treatment, storage and disposal. Affected employee will need to be familiar with the applicable training requirements included in the customized Resources, Conservation and Recovery Act. Employee will understand waste labeling, secondary containment, chemical compatibility, storage time limits, container size and quantity limits, container integrity when waste is left unattended and improper disposal of hazardous materials.
