RESEARCH SCIENTIST I- PROTEINEXPRESSION, CRYSTALLOGRAPHY & ANALYSIS in Buffalo, NY

Albany MolecularResearch Inc. provides global contract research and manufacturing services tothe pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Research Scientist I is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing toour success by: assisting in the development, production andcharacterization of recombinant proteins and protein conjugates. They areexpected to work under supervisory direction. The Research Scientist I isexpected to develop competency in many aspects of practical molecular biology,microbiology, protein purification and protein chemistry within the first 12months of their employment and assist the senior members of the ProteinExpression & Crystallization laboratory group.  A major component of the scientist’s ratingwill be based on productivity, teamwork and cooperation.

Inthis role, you will:  

  • Assist in the development of recombinant protein expression, purification and analysis methods through applications of molecular biology, cell biology, protein chromatography and protein chemistry.
  • Assist in the development of protein crystallization methods and X-ray diffraction structures.
  • Collaborate with internal drug discovery teams/areas, such as assay development, cell biology, mass spec and microbiology;
  • Maintain comprehensive, up to date records of experimental methods, materials, calculations, results, observations and outcomes (decisions) in compliance with AMRI laboratory notebook policy. Record all appropriate data electronically in AMRI databases.






Qualifications

Qualificationsand background to be successful in this role:

  •     Bachelorsor Masters Degree with a major in Biology or Biochemistry, or equivalentindustrial experience.
  •     Laboratoryexperience conducting molecular biology, protein purification andelectrophoresis.
  •     Computertraining in the use of standard office software applications and databases.
  •     Otherpertinent training/courses.
