Research Scientist I, Particle Engineering in West Lafayette, IN

AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Research Scientist I will be an integral part of the AMRI team performing cGMP analyses for particle characterization, including but not limited to particle size by laser light scattering, BET surface area, and microscopy.

In this role, you will:

  •          Provide proficient and timely support for analytical techniques including laser diffraction particle size, BET surface area analyses and microscopy.

  •         Accurately follow written procedures and GMP/GLP guidelines. 
  •         Plan, prioritize, organize and execute analytical work in accordance with the requirements of the client/technical agreement following analytical methods and procedures.
  •         Maintain assigned equipment/instrumentation per written quality procedures to ensure optimal operation and quality data generation.
  •         Technically interact with in-house experts as appropriate.
  •         Provide exemplary customer support for both internal and external customers and communicate results clearly and accurately.
  •         Maintain and promote clean and well organized work area(s).
  •         Responsible for complying with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, NRC and ICH guidelines. 
  •         Demonstrates flexibility in organizing work and priorities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and background to be successful in this role: 
  • BS in scientific discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences) with laboratory experience or an Associate degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of five years relevant laboratory experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • cGMP/GLP pharmaceutical laboratory experience is preferred. 
  • Hands-on experience associated with instrumental techniques listed is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn other statistical/scientific software packages.
  • Good problem solving and decision making skills to identify and solve issues.
