Process Control Specialist

Albany Molecular Research Inc. provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Summary:

Ensure timely manufacturing of all liquid and lyophilized parenteral cGMP products using aseptic processing technology to deliver high quality sterile products to the pharmaceutical industry. Provide shift support to manager and supervisor.  Manage daily manufacturing activities including scheduling, documentation, shift transfer meetings and performance reporting, and assist with duties in absence of shift manager/supervisor.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete accurate data entry and correct/troubleshoot entries into Ross ERP system. (40%)

  • Review all Master Batch Records for content, clarity, and completeness. (30%)

  • Place orders to ensure adequate supplies and appropriate operational equipment. (10%)

  • Write Problem Reports and perform associated training and assist with bench strengthening and in-depth cross-functional training of personnel to ensure compliance with cGMPs, corporate/site-specific policies and procedures. (5%)

  • Assist with supervision/coordination of schedule and material consumption rates, maintain and report metrics to evaluate business unit performance, and lead the business unit in the absence of shift supervisor or manager. (5%)

  • Compile area specific information and line data status accurately and promptly reporting the information to support groups and oncoming shift management teams. (5%)

  • Assist Technical Operations and LSS Black Belts on projects and process improvements. (5%)

  • Other duties as assigned

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

B.S. in scientific or business field preferred

Minimum 3 years directly related experience in industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:  

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills:

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to organize time in order to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.

  • Ability to read, understand, interpret and implement technical writing and instructions.

  • Effective inter-personal relation skills, while maintaining the adaptability to achieve company goals.

  • Verbally expresses ideas and facts in a clear, logical, concise and in accepted grammatical style.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

 

 

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee works with and must safely handle toxic or caustic chemicals with appropriate personal protective equipment. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; equipment that may pose a risk of electrical shock; explosives; or risk of radiation and vibration. The employee may occasionally work in wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee must be able to follow applicable training and safety related process or procedures to prevent heath related risks.
