LABORATORY TECHNICIAN - SMALL SCALE MANUFACTURING in Albany, NY

The Laboratory Technician is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by carrying out chemical reactions and purifications for the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).

In this role, you will:

•       Follow cGMP documentation procedures for all work.

  • Carry out chemical reactions and purification operations under the direction of a senior scientist.
  • Consult data generated from modern separation and spectroscopic techniques to make informed decisions.
  • Assemble, maintain, and clean a wide variety of apparatus and equipment.
  • Keep accurate, legible, and complete records of all experiments and observations.
  • Discuss routinely with the supervisor and colleagues the status of assigned projects and potential problems. 
  • Maintain general housekeeping following cGMP SOPs including lab and equipment cleanliness.
  • Follow responsible actions regarding chemical waste disposal. Maintain compliance with all regulations at the federal, state, and local levels

Job Requirements

Qualifications and background to be successful in this role: 

Required:

  • Ability to conduct basic mathematical operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Willingness to work in a chemical laboratory environment.

Preferred:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree with a major in science (chemistry preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Strong mechanical ability as it applies to setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment. 


 



Physical Requirements:



 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Incumbent must be able to obtain/qualify for and maintain the clearance to wear a respirator at a “class B” level or above following OSHA mandated guidelines.
