Job Description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS


The primary function of the Environmental Health and Safety Manager is to assist in the design and implementation of all EH&S related policies and procedures. Responsibilities include direct supervision of the EH&S team as well as corporate compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Supervise the -to-day operations and steer the long term initiatives of the EH&S team.

•  Manages and directs site in achieving EHS targets & objectives. Directs development, maintenance, and achievement of goals in support of corporate and business group EHS strategic initiatives

•  Perform facility safety audits to ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies.

•  Facilitate and assist with the preparation and presentation of all safety training programs.

•  Guiding and participating in incident response teams.

•  Assist in the oversight of AMRI’s chemical inventory system.

•  Assist with file maintenance and department record keeping.

•  Create and/or review all regulatory documents.

•  Help with the set-up of new employee records and their corresponding orientation.

•  Guide and promote safe work performance by developing and enforcing safety policies, implementing safety campaigns, and training managers and employees in safe practices and first aid.

•  Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or service.

•  Participate in self-development activities and training of others.

•  Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.

•  Facilitates risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects. Works with leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks.

•  Determines appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.

•  Supports creation of EHS goals for the site and appropriate activity based goals to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.

•  Drives and promotes zero incident EHS culture throughout site.

•  Uses established EHS data processes to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items and other pertinent information.

•  Create Training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and traced to completion

•  Work with the site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.

•  Maintaining site security

•  Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

Education / Experience:


• B.S. in Safety, Environmental Science or related field. 

•  5-7 years prior relevant experience.
